so it's the first full day for me here in Japan. after getting lost last night, i was a bit wary about going around, but i went with Lauren, the french girl, and Kristina/kris? the girl from PA. it was raining so hard this morning and it sucked bc i had to share my umbrella with lauren bc she didn't have one, so my bag and the whole right side of my body were all wet. and omg, it's SOOOO humid everywhere. even inside the school. but the dorms here and the rooms are nice and air conditioned
my futon last night was sooo comfortable! speaking of the room, our last roommate, carolina or something like that was in the room when i just got back at about 2. i tried to be all nice and introduce myself, but she was kind of mean. i don't think i like her. and this time, i don't have any preconceived notions or anything. she was mean to me first. but whatever. i'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt that she doesn't really speak english and that it's her first day here. i mean, she's probably jetlagged and evrything and that sucks. bnut i really wanted to take a nap, and now she took over the other desk. blah. if i have to room with her if i don't do a homestay, i think i'll opt for the homestay.
so i walked around a bit after sending a few emails this morning after the pointless tour. i saw jason from gburg before he went into his placement test and met up with him and maribeth afterwards and went to lunch with them. but i had eaten by myself before that. yummy katsudon. ^_^and i've spent so much moeny in the freaking vending machines that it's ridiculous. i've already blown through like 20 bucks from yesterday. but i actually got some real food. and some candy. but i keep remembering all the drinks i bought so far. they're really small too, but really good. i jsut want to take pictures of all of the bottles, lol!
ooh ooh! AND, not even 24 hours after i'm in japan, this was like 1:45 or so. i get asked to be an english teacher! HA! me and jason and maribeth were walking back from school and this lady comes up from the other way on her bike and asked if we were native english speakers. i said yes and she told me she had jsut opened an english language shop/cafe thingie, and how much would i want to teach english? hahahaha! i knew fromthe second that she said english shop that she was going to ask one of us to teach. i told her we were students and htat we probably wouldn't have time. and then maribeth said something about teaching englsih in france and that she should go to the school and see if she could post a notice on the board or something. then she asked "if" we were to teach, how much would we ask for. then at the end of the conversation, asked *again* if i was sure i didn't want to teach. lol. i told her i had never done it before and probably wouldn't be good at it. it was so funny and she kept laughing after maribeth or i switched into japanese. liek she couldn't believe we could speak that too. bc she was talking to us in english. i told her it was my first day here and then she laughed even harder. lol. it was quite a weird experience O_o
tomorrow i have my placement test so, i'm gonna go study and try to stay out of that other girl's way. i'm going to have to make this public soon i guess....Current Mood: amused Current Music: annoying girl listening to headphones, i can STILL hear it!!
